Christopher John Morry is Howard Morry’s grandson. He worked for almost forty years as a marine and freshwater biologist for the Canadian government, the IUCN – The World Conservation Union, and in the private sector. He has spent twenty years studying his family history. This is his first book on the subject. He currently lives in Ottawa.
Howard Leopold Morry was born in Ferryland, NL, in 1885 to a merchant-class. The family’s fortune was lost in the crash of 1894; Howard worked without wages until his father had paid back every cent of debt. Howard’s experiences serving in Gallipoli, France, and Belgium in the Newfoundland Regiment marked him for life. He died at home in Ferryland in 1972.
