Manuscript Submission Guidelines
Breakwater Books Ltd. accepts manuscripts in all genres; however, the company publishes almost no science fiction or fantasy.
If you wish to submit a manuscript sample to Breakwater Books for publication consideration please follow the guidelines below:

- Submit a cover letter indicating the genre, subject matter, intended audience, and length of the entire manuscript (word count, not page count, except for children's and poetry). Please include brief biographical information regarding writing experience, credentials, and awards or award nominations, if applicable.
- Enclose a summary (non-fiction) or synopsis (fiction) and the first 10-15 pages of the completed manuscript. Please do not send your entire manuscript, except in the case of children's books. Do not send your only copy or original artwork or photographs.
- The manuscript sample should be double-spaced, with 12-pt. type. Please use standard style (paragraphs indented 5 spaces, no extra space between paragraphs) in the manuscript sample, not block style (paragraphs not indented).
- Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope for a response. Breakwater Books will not respond to any submission that does not include a SASE. If you wish to have your manuscript sample returned, enclose a large enough envelope with sufficient Canadian postage or International Reply Coupon.
- If you wish to be assured that we have received your submission, please enclose a self-addressed, stamped postcard. Please do not call or email.
- Please allow us at least six months to review your submission.
Submissions sent via email will not be accepted.
